Evangelization

The task of evangelizing all people constitutes the essential mission of the Church.  It is a task and mission which the vast and profound changes of present-day society make all the more urgent.  Evangelizing is in fact the grace and vocation proper to the Church, her deepest identity.  She exists in order to evangelize. (Pope Paul VI, Evangelii Nuntiandi (part 14)

These words of Pope Paul are as timely today as when they were written (1975).  Since that time the Church has continued to commit itself to this fundamental mission given to it by the Lord as he ascended into heaven.  At the heart of the Franciscan movement is this same call to evangelize.  The Order of Friars Minor offers itself to the Church as a catalyst to heighten the evangelization that we care called to do.  We place ourselves at the service of the Gospel and our brothers and sisters and continue to search for and implement new ways of evangelizing in the present age with eyes set to the future and the challenges and blessings it will bring.

The special filed of mission of the Friars Minor is ‘among people:’ in the squares and on the roads, in places where men and women gather, live, work, suffer, and enjoy themselves.  We cannot just be simply waiting for those who will arrive; it is necessary that we be on our way to go and meet up men and women and proclaim the Gospel with creativity and boldness. (2009 General Chapter of the Order of Friars Minor)

Here on this site, we will reach out to you, dialogue with you, be available to you, share ideas with you and invite you to join us in proclaiming the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
